The Importance of Variable Frequency Drives in Overhead Crane Safety and Operations
The use of variable frequency drives (VFDs) is critical to overhead crane safety and operations. They are beneficial because, unlike the traditional stop-and-go motor, a VFD enables and optimizes a process, by making changes in a process. This allows starting at a reduced speed and allows remote adjustment of speed by a programmable controller or process controller. Also, controlled stopping is just as important as controlled acceleration.
